When, if ever, have you make a bargain with god?

I don't know if this counts... but the day of my son's crime, I fell to the floor and begged for all of it to not be real, I said, "if there is a god, make this a dream, a nightmare." ...that was not to be. And it is in that moment that I realized that if there is a god, he is no friend of mine.

I have every letter one of my best friends has ever written to me. Some are so short and silly to read now, "Hey can I borrow your math book? Meet me at my locker." LOL
I keep them in a little wooden box. I treasure them. There is nothing like hearing from a friend.

The kindergarten year for my daughter we were unable to afford the pictures from her school. When everyone else's came they. Cut up the sheets and gave them to friends and family. My daughter drew in crayon her likeness and gave these out instead. That is my most treasured item in the world.

When, if ever, did you come close to death?
|
|

Post by Heather on Dec 3, 2014 9:24:12 GMT -5
I've had several times- One time was when I was having my son. I ended up needing an emergency C-section. And everything was going alright, but then I heard something weird, and things got fuzzy and then I hear my doctor say, "we are losing her.." and I passed out- I was told I had died on the table there - I do not remember any "near death experience" for this...
The last time was when I was so sick, had no idea what was wrong with me but I knew it was bad. I was unable to do anything but vomit and it was intense and painful.
Turns out, my digestive track was blocked by a hernia and that I actually was dying when I came in, I remember them taking me to the Xray machine, but next thing I know, I am having a tube being put down my throat- not a good way to wake up.

This one deserves my answer but I am afraid to do so. Early spring 1991, those of you who know your history and mine will know what is going on in the world already and what my place was in it. Desert Storm the manner and means of the war was such that the soldiers in it did not want to fight. the warriors on Saddams side were surrendering in such numbers that it was getting to be overwhelming. A crew of a Bradley fighting vehicle in our formation picked up a interesting one and his companion. A Republican Guard Colonel who had been educated in our universities. Harvard I believe he said it was, I being the company translator had been sitting in on the interrogation but I was not needed he spoke perfect english. I went for drinking water and was just returning when his companion reached out to one of the crewmembers of the vehicle pulling the pins on the grenades attached to his vest. The resulting explosion and after explosion caused by the stored ammunition killed the entire crew and maimed several nearby I only survived by that mere happenstance of going for water.

Wow, scary stories guys! I'm so glad you're still with us!
I have been VERY lucky in that I have made some bad choices in my life that could very well have ended me.

What do you have an irrational fear of?
sorry it's so late. I actually forgot today..

I have a lot of irrational fears, I hate to admit.
The one that really bothers me the most these days is this one:
I am afraid that if I get close to another child, I will somehow contaminate them and give them bad luck when they grow up. So I don't let myself be around other people's children.
This fear stems from my experience as a mom- I did the best I could. I really did. I don't want anyone else's child to turn out like mine. And in a logical way, I know it doesn't work like that, you don't "contaminate" people.. but there's that worry in the back of my mind whispering, "but what if you do?" ...and I don't want to risk it.
It's sad, because I love children.

I fear my toes will pop off. I know they won't but if someone even touches my feet I grow fearful if they touch my toes I go hysterical. The only time I ever struck my ex was in one of those moments... I am sorry.

What do you love the smell of?

This might sound weird, but when I lived in Arizona, I LOVED the smell of the evenings. It always smelled like citrus fruit and something floral like, but each evening, when the sun was going down, it smelled so good outside. You just want to try to capture that fragrance and bottle it.

I am with you on the coffee- but I am allergic to fresh cut grass. LOL! I break out in hives when I'm exposed to it- and my throat closes too..so I try to avoid it- I agree, it smells good- just not good enough to need epinephrine. lol

and the smell of the rain.. coming in through an open window.. it's comforting and the sound, rocks you to sleep...
For me, smells actually trigger memories. Like- the rain- my mom rocking me in the rocking chair when we were young..maybe 3 yrs old.
French fries- the boardwalk in Ocean City.
Coffee, my dad- who loved his coffee (and smokes too lol, smells like coffee and cigarettes always remind me of dad).
Roses, my first apartment which had roses outside the window.

How would your friends describe you to a someone you have not met?

|
|
Post by Heather on Dec 6, 2014 1:19:56 GMT -5
I know how that goes, I've listened to my best friend trying to describe me to her other friends that I've never met:
"Oh, she's nice. Real smart- but quiet."
